Can I store my household furniture in a container while I move house?

Yes, and it is one of the most common reasons people come to Sunshine Self Storage in Albion. Families between homes, people renovating and people moving overseas all use our containers to hold furniture until they are ready.

Drive-up access makes moving day easier. Back the removal truck, van or trailer up to the container and load straight in. No lifts, no corridors. A 20ft container (33.1 m³) fits the contents of a two to three bedroom home. A 40ft (almost 70 m³) suits a full household move.

A few packing tips keep furniture in good shape. Don't sit furniture directly on the floor; pallets or plastic underneath help. Cover sofas, recliners and mattresses, stand mattresses on end, and take bed frames apart, taping the bag of bolts to the frame. Leave a small gap between your goods and the walls so air can move, and make sure everything goes in clean and dry.

Leave out food, plants, pets and anything flammable. Our minimum stay is three months, paid when you sign up, then monthly until you give 30 days' notice.
