Can I store my boat or trailer in a container?

It depends on the size. Some of our 20ft and 40ft containers at Sunshine Self Storage are car containers, placed so you can drive a vehicle straight in. A small trailer, box trailer or small boat on its trailer may fit, but measure carefully first.

A 20ft container is 5.9m long, 2.35m wide and 2.39m high inside. Measure your boat or trailer's total length including the drawbar and any motor, its widest point and its height on the trailer, including any windscreen or rails. Leave room to get out past it. There is also a 70mm lip between the ground and the container floor, so you will need ramps or chocks of wood.

Fuel and batteries need care. You can't store flammable goods, loose fuel or spare fuel cans, and you can't store lithium-ion batteries or anything containing one. Talk to us about your boat's fuel tank and battery before you book, so we can work through it together.

We don't park caravans or large boats on open hardstand at this yard. We do have another site, and what is free there changes day to day, so call or email and we can give you information about it.
