Why store with Sunshine Self Storage?

I'm Ned from Sunshine Self Storage, and this page will give you all the information you need about storing with us. Moving into self storage can be a stressful and confusing time, and we'd like to make it as easy as possible for you.
What people store with us
We offer a simple storage solution for people who need to store their goods. We store a wide range of valuables for our customers, including:
- Household goods for people renovating or moving house
- Furniture and whitegoods
- Tradies' materials, including tools and building materials
- Excess retail stock for shop owners
- Machinery
- Cars, and small boats or trailers that fit
- The contents of your shed or garage
- Stuff your wife (or husband) told you to get rid of!

A few things can't be stored: anything hazardous, illegal, stolen, flammable, explosive, perishable or living, and lithium-ion batteries or anything containing one. See our facility rules, or ask us before you load it.
A family-owned business
Sunshine Self Storage is a family-owned business. Ned and Hilary Coten bought it in 2004. We're a full member of the Self Storage Association of Australasia, the peak body for our industry, and have been since 2004.
We pride ourselves on providing safe, clean, dry, secure storage that you can drive right up to, any day of the year from 5am to 9pm. We keep prices low because we feel that there are a lot of people who need storage, but don't want to pay a fortune for it.
How do we do this and still offer a great service?
There are a few reasons.
No frills
We offer a no-frills, down-to-earth, simple storage facility. We don't hire out trailers, sell boxes or any of the other materials you might need to move. We won't win any awards for looking the best, and we don't offer any add-on services. We cover the basics, because that's all you need for secure, strong, safe self storage!
Low overheads
There are no full-time staff on site, so if you want to meet us at the yard, we'll need to make a time to do it. In order to keep our prices down, we don't sit around all day waiting for the phone to ring! You can call us 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, but we don't think you should be paying for our time when we don't need to be there. If you do need to meet us, we can easily arrange it, but most of what you need to know is on this website, in our help centre and storage questions.
Shipping containers, in three sizes
We use shipping containers to store everything on our site, and we only offer three sizes: 10ft, 20ft and 40ft. Shipping containers are perfect for storage, and many of the things people store with us have already spent three months or more in a shipping container on their way to Australia!
This makes it easy for us to manage, and we don't cater for people wanting to store only a very small number of items. If you only need a few boxes stored, we'll tell you straight. Even so, many people find that a bigger space with us still costs less than a smaller space at another facility.
A three-month minimum
The minimum time for storage is three months. We can't offer these prices for less than that, because of the time and effort it takes us to set up a new customer. After that, you stay month to month for as long as you need, and give us 30 days' notice when you're ready to move out. That's a win for both of us!
No glitz and glamour
If you're looking for glitz and glamour, don't come to us! Our facility is clean, secure and very convenient, but not beautiful! You're paying for storage, not good looks...

What do I get when I store with Sunshine Self Storage?
Here's exactly what you get when you store with us:
- Your own shipping container. Our containers are watertight, dust-proof and secure, with drive-up access. Shipping containers are purpose-built to store and carry goods, and they make excellent storage. Each one has an anti-theft lockbox, a secure area on the doors for your padlock.
- Access 5am to 9pm, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. You come and go with your own access card and alarm code. If you really need access outside of these times, it can be organised by speaking to our office.
- Access for yourself only. You supply your own padlock and you keep the keys. Only you hold the key to your container.
- Drive-up convenience. You can literally back your vehicle up to your container and load or unload your goods. In fact, it's possible to drive into your container! We have a number of cars in storage at any one time.
- Store almost anything legal. People store all kinds of things with us, including household furniture, cars, trailers, tools, building equipment, machinery, car parts, retail stock, bulk goods, sports equipment, excess office furniture and many, many more things.
- Great service from a family-owned business. We're hands-on managers and here to help you. When you call, you'll speak to someone with over 20 years of experience who really knows what they're talking about.
