A member since 2004
The Self Storage Association of Australasia is the peak body for the self storage industry in Australia and New Zealand. For more than 30 years it has helped storage businesses do a better job, through education, advocacy and support, and it sets the standard storage agreements used across the industry.
We joined in 2004, the year Ned and Hilary bought Sunshine Self Storage, and we've renewed every year since. We follow the association's Code of Ethics, guidelines, rules, procedures and policies, and we're an active member of the self storage community.
The storage agreement you sign with us is the standard SSAA storage agreement, the same one used by member facilities around the country. You can read it before you book.

Our founder and owner
Ned Coten: six years on the SSAA board
Ned Coten, our founder and owner, served on the board of directors of the Self Storage Association of Australasia for six years.
In 2025 he received the SSAA Service Award at the SSAA Awards for Excellence. The award recognised his significant service to the association and to the industry, over his six years on the board and in the years before that.
Ned continues to stand up for a professional self storage industry, so that storage customers across Australia and New Zealand, and every customer at Sunshine Self Storage, are looked after and treated with pride and respect.
Our current membership certificate
