How we keep your things safe
There's no one on site full time, so the yard is protected in layers: high fences, a card-access gate, your own access card and alarm code, back-to-base alarms, cameras monitored 24/7 and an anti-theft lockbox on every container.
Layer 1 · The perimeter
High fences, and factories either side
The yard at 15 Carrington Drive, Albion, VICTORIA 3020, is surrounded by high fences, and it's bordered by two factories, so there's no easy way in from the sides.
Layer 2 · The gate
One way in, and it stays shut
Vehicles can only come in through an electronic gate with card access. The gate always stays closed, and it closes behind you when you drive in.
Every customer gets their own access card and alarm code. There are no shared codes, so every entry is tied to a person. Access to the yard is available from 5am until 9pm, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
Layer 3 · Alarms
Back-to-base alarms, monitored 24/7
Movement sensor alarms are connected to a monitoring company that watches them around the clock. Turn off the alarm with your own code before you enter the site, and remember to turn it on again when you leave the site.
If an alarm isn't switched off within one minute, the monitoring company calls and sends a security officer or the police.
Layer 4 · Cameras
Cameras watching the yard
Motion-activated cameras are monitored 24/7, and there's CCTV on site. Signs at the yard make sure everyone knows it.
Layer 5 · The lockbox
An anti-theft lockbox on every door
Your padlock sits inside a steel lockbox on the container door, which shields it from bolt cutters, hammers and pry bars. Each container also has a three-point locking system.
You bring your own padlock, and only you hold the key. Nobody else, including us, has a key to your container.
Layer 6 · The container
Solid steel, sealed tight
Shipping containers are built to carry goods across oceans in all weather. Ours are airtight, waterproof, dust-proof and vermin-proof, with thick rubber door seals.
A 20ft container weighs over 2,000kg and a 40ft over 3,000kg, and every one sits up on concrete blocks, off the ground.
Your part
Security works best when we both look after it.
Bring a good padlock
Choose an outdoor padlock with a strong, short shackle that fits inside the lockbox. We recommend a keyed lock over a combination lock. Ask us and we'll help you check the fit.
Keep your card and code to yourself
Don't let anyone you don't know follow you through the gate, and close the gate and your container properly when you leave. If your card is lost, call us straight away on 03 9010 6147.
Insure your goods
Under the standard SSAA storage agreement, you store at your own risk, so insurance is up to you. Goods worth more than $1,000 in total must be itemised and specifically insured.
