Is it safe for me to visit the yard alone when no staff are there?

Yes. Most of our customers at Sunshine Self Storage visit on their own, and the yard is set up for it. Access is only through an electronic gate with card access, and every customer has their own card and alarm code. The site has high fences and two factories either side. Back-to-base alarms and motion-activated cameras are monitored 24/7, and there is CCTV on site.

The yard is open 5am to 9pm, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, and the gate locks overnight. Other customers come and go during the day, so you are rarely the only one there for long.

A few sensible habits make visits even safer. Let someone know when you are heading to the yard. Keep your phone charged and with you. Close the gate behind you, and don't let anyone you don't know follow you in. Park facing out if you can, so you can leave easily. Lift with care, and bring a helper for heavy items. If you are planning an early morning or evening visit, a torch is handy.
