Will my belongings get damp or mouldy inside a steel container?

Our containers keep the weather out. They are airtight, waterproof and dust-proof, with thick rubber door seals. One customer, Alen, put it this way in his Google review: "our belongings stayed in perfect condition there was no water or dust coming through the container".

To be straight with you, though, a container is not climate controlled. Damp problems almost always start with what goes in, not what comes through the walls. Wet or damp goods give off moisture, and in a sealed box that moisture can settle as condensation.

So pack dry. Make sure furniture, whitegoods, clothes and boxes are completely dry and clean before they go in. Don't store anything in rubbish bags, which trap moisture and cause mildew. Leave a small gap between your goods and the walls so air can move, and keep goods off the floor with pallets. Wedge fridge and freezer doors open. Moisture absorbers can help too, as long as you check and replace them.

Then visit now and then, especially on a long stay, and tell us if you notice anything.
