Can I unload pallets into my container with a forklift?
Sunshine Self Storage, located in Albion. Drive-up 10ft, 20ft and 40ft containers, open 5am to 9pm, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
We don't have a forklift at Sunshine Self Storage, and there are no staff on site to unload deliveries for you. That is part of how we keep prices low.
If you want to bring your own forklift or have one on a delivery truck, talk to us first, before the day. We need to make sure it can be done safely without blocking other customers, and that it suits your container and that part of the yard. Call us and we will work through it with you.
Many customers use a pallet jack instead. There is a lip of about 70mm between the ground and the container floor, so bring a sturdy ramp to roll over it.
How many pallets fit? A 20ft container is 5.9m long and 2.35m wide inside. A standard Australian pallet is 1165mm square, so two can sit side by side with very little room to spare, and as a rough guide around nine or ten fit on the floor if you pack it tight. Leave yourself room to reach what you need, and keep a small gap from the walls for air. A 40ft container holds about twice as many.
Take your pallets with you when you leave; nothing can be left outside your container.
