Can I use my container as a workshop, or is it strictly for storage?
Sunshine Self Storage, located in Albion. Drive-up 10ft, 20ft and 40ft containers, open 5am to 9pm, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
Yes, you can use your container as a workshop. Plenty of tradies and makers want a secure space to work on gear close to home, and a container at Sunshine Self Storage can do that job as well as storing your tools.
There is one big thing to keep in mind: there is no power or lighting on site. You will need battery-powered tools and lights, charged at home. With both doors swung open, daylight reaches well inside, and a 20ft container gives you 5.9m by 2.35m of floor with a 2.39m ceiling.
A few rules still apply. Lithium-ion batteries can't be stored, so your cordless tool batteries come with you and go home with you. Nothing flammable, like fuel, gas bottles or solvents, can be kept in the container. Nothing can be left outside your container, so work inside it and take your offcuts and rubbish home. Park so you don't block other customers. You can't drill, bolt or weld anything to the container without our written OK, but freestanding benches and shelving are fine. If your work involves sparks, fumes or a lot of noise, talk to us first.
Access is 5am to 9pm, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, with drive-up access, so you can back the ute up, work, load up and go.
