Do I need to bring my own trolley or pallet jack?
Sunshine Self Storage, located in Albion. Drive-up 10ft, 20ft and 40ft containers, open 5am to 9pm, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
Yes. Sunshine Self Storage doesn't supply trolleys, pallet jacks or forklifts. There are no full-time staff on site, and skipping the extras is how we keep our prices low.
The good news is that you may not need one. Every container is drive-up, so you back your ute, van or trailer right up to the doors and load straight in. No lifts, no corridors and no long walks from a car park. For boxes and furniture, many customers just carry things the last couple of metres.
For heavy items, a trolley or pallet jack makes life easier. There is a lip of about 70mm between the ground and the container floor, so bring a small, sturdy ramp to roll over it. Big wheels handle the lip better than small ones.
Need to hire one? Bunnings, just down the road on Ballarat Road, hires stair trolleys. Equipment hire companies around Melbourne's west hire pallet jacks and other gear.
If you are bringing a forklift, talk to us first so we can make sure it can be done safely.
Inside, a 20ft container is 2.35m wide and 5.9m long, with plenty of room to wheel a trolley in and out. Load the heaviest things at the back first, and keep a clear path.
