Do I need my own padlock?
Sunshine Self Storage, located in Albion. Drive-up 10ft, 20ft and 40ft containers, open 5am to 9pm, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
Yes. At Sunshine Self Storage, you bring your own padlock, and only you hold the key. That is a big part of what keeps your container secure. Nobody else, including us, has a key to your container.
Your padlock sits inside an anti-theft lockbox on the container door. The lockbox shields the lock, so it is much harder to cut or knock off.
Choosing the right lock matters. Pick a padlock made for outdoor use, with corrosion-resistant materials, because an indoor lock can rust until it won't open. Go for a strong shackle and a reputable security rating; price alone doesn't tell you how secure a lock is. Choose the shortest shackle that still works inside the lockbox, because a long, exposed shackle gives tools more room. We recommend a keyed padlock over a combination lock, which can be hard to read and use outdoors.
Before you buy, check the shackle diameter and body size against the lockbox. Ask us and we will help you confirm the fit. Our "Purchasing a padlock for your container" guide on the website has more tips.
We don't sell padlocks, which is one of the ways we keep our prices low. Sunshine Self Storage is located in Albion. Call us 03 9010 6147.
