If my payment is late, will I be locked out straight away?

Here is the honest answer. Under our standard SSAA storage agreement, a late fee applies when rent isn't paid on time. If your account is overdue, we may deny access to your container until it is paid, including by putting our own padlock on it. We don't have to do that, but we can.

The best thing you can do is talk to us early. If you know a payment is going to be late, or your card has expired, call or email us before the 20th. Life happens, and we are real people who would much rather sort it out with you than chase you.

What we can't do is let accounts fall a long way behind. If an account stays unpaid, the agreement allows us to claim a lien over the goods and report the debt to StorerCheck, a debt collector or a credit agency. In the end, goods can be sold, but not earlier than 42 days after the default, and only after at least 14 days' written notice.

To keep things smooth, make sure your bank account or card details are current. Payments are taken automatically on the 20th of each month for the following month.
