What condition do I need to leave my container in when I move out?

Empty, clean and the way you found it. At Sunshine Self Storage, here is what moving out looks like.

Empty it completely. Take out all your goods, pallets, shelving, packaging and rubbish. Nothing can be left behind in the container or outside it.

Clean it. Sweep the floor, clean up any spills, and deal with any oil or fluid marks. If you stored a car or machinery, make sure nothing has leaked. Cleaning fees may apply if oil or rubbish is left behind.

Undo any changes. You shouldn't have made alterations without our written consent, but if anything was added with our OK, check with us whether it needs to come out.

Return what is ours. Hand back your access card. Take your padlock off once you have finished.

Under our standard SSAA storage agreement, you need to vacate and leave the container clean within 24 hours of your agreement ending. Rubbish left in common areas is removed, and cleaning fees are charged per cubic metre. Goods left behind can be disposed of after seven days' written notice.

A few tips. Book a trailer or removalist for your move-out date early. Bring a broom, dustpan and bin bags on the last trip. Take a couple of photos of the clean container before you lock up the last time.
