Are your containers waterproof?

Yes. Our shipping containers at Sunshine Self Storage are airtight, waterproof and dust-proof, with thick rubber door seals. They were built to carry goods across oceans in all weather, so a Melbourne winter is no trouble.

There is one honest caveat. Waterproof is not the same as climate controlled. A sealed container keeps rain out, but it also keeps moisture in. If goods go in damp, that moisture can settle as condensation. So make sure everything is clean and completely dry before you load it. Avoid rubbish bags, which trap moisture. Leave a small gap between your goods and the walls, keep goods off the floor with pallets, and wedge fridge and freezer doors open.

On longer stays, visit now and then and check things over. If you ever notice water getting in, tell us straight away so we can look at it.
