What should I do on my move-in day?

Move-in day at Sunshine Self Storage is simple. Here is a checklist.

Before you leave home: pack everything clean and dry, in labelled boxes. Take bed frames apart and tape the bolts to the frames. Drain fuel from mowers and petrol gear. Take out any lithium-ion batteries. Leave behind anything flammable, perishable or prohibited. Sort your insurance if you want your goods covered.

Bring with you: a strong outdoor padlock that fits the anti-theft lockbox, your access card and alarm code, and ramps if you are bringing a car, trolley or pallet jack. Pallets for the floor and furniture covers are a good idea too.

When you arrive: swipe your card at the gate and drive to your container. Switch off your alarm with your code. Look the container over before you load, check the seals, floor and walls, and take a few photos. If anything isn't right, call us before you load.

While you load: put heavy items and things you rarely need at the back. Keep a small gap from the walls for air, and keep goods off the floor. Put the things you use most near the doors. Stick a simple map on the wall. Park so you don't block others, and leave nothing outside the container.

When you leave: lock your padlock inside the lockbox and close the gate behind you.
