What fits in a 20ft
- The contents of a two to three bedroom home: beds, couches, a dining setting, whitegoods and the boxes that go with them
- One car, with room down the side. Let us know it’s for a car and we’ll make sure you can drive straight in
- A motorbike with lots of room to spare, often a couple of bikes and their gear
- Small business stock, tools and equipment, or vehicle parts
- Long and tall things: ladders, timber, pipe and freestanding shelving, thanks to the 2.39m ceiling
A quick way to check
If your things would fill a single garage to the roof, a 20ft is your size. If they would fill a double garage, look at the 40ft. If a garage would feel half empty, the 10ft may do.
Still not sure? Call us and we will tell you straight, even if a smaller container earns us less.
Who uses a 20ft
Moving or renovating
A whole house in one container while you sell, build or renovate.
Why 20 feet?
The 20ft container is the yardstick of world shipping. Ships are measured in TEU, short for twenty-foot equivalent unit, and the biggest ships today carry more than 20,000 of them. Most of what is in your house, from the TV to the couch, probably spent weeks in a container just like this on its way to Australia.
That is why they make such good storage. They are built to cross oceans: steel, airtight, waterproof and dust-proof, with thick rubber door seals, and a 20ft weighs over two tonnes empty. Nearly all of ours are new one-trip containers, used once to bring them here from the factory, so they are the best quality you can get.
Every 20ft comes with
- Drive-up access: back the ute, van or trailer right up to the doors
- Your own access card and alarm code
- An anti-theft lockbox for your own padlock (which padlock to buy)
- High fences, a card-access gate, and alarms and cameras monitored 24/7
- Access 5am to 9pm, 7 days a week, 365 days a year
- No deposit and no setup fee. Three months, then month to month, with 30 days’ notice to leave
Two 20ft or one 40ft?
Two 20ft containers cost $598 a month. One 40ft costs $580 and keeps everything behind one set of doors. On the other hand, two 20ft containers let you keep tools and stock apart, or hand one back when you need less room.
Whether two sit side by side depends on what is free at the time, so call us before you book.
